I provide high-quality, goal-based tutoring to students of all ages in English as a Foreign Language. I have experience in teaching grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and pronunciation, as well leading conversation sections. I also majored in Linguistics, the scientific study of language, so I have a solid knowledge of the language-learning process. I incorporate cultural knowledge into my tutoring and also specialize in teaching idioms, euphemisms, metaphors, and both formal and informal English.
I emphasize learning the patterns of English so that ultimately you will need my help less and less. For example, when teaching vocabulary, I focus on learning the meanings of different parts of a word instead of just memorizing definitions. When teaching grammar, I show you the systems English uses so that you can speak grammatically—even when you've never used a certain word before. When I explain metaphors and idioms, I focus on understanding the whole idea, instead of just committing the phrases to memory. This approach allows you to become a more independent learner and will increase your confidence in your English skills!
